Macadamia Market Update March 2022 Week 10
As mentioned in last week's updates, Australian macadamia production has been severely affected due to the weather situation, especially flooding, in New South Wales and South East Queensland.
While it is hard to measure the extent of the damage, it is expected that 10% of the total crop may be lost in regions where the weather has been unkind.
Though, as mentioned earlier in the week, the majority of crop cultivated lands are not where the flood-hit. In those regions such as Bundaberg, harvest is going as expected. Now, this may be a refresher for the Australian Macadamia industry. However, it is essential to note that the damage the weather has caused will not be only for this season, but it will likely delay the harvest next year.
The revised figures for the Macadamia crop will come out in May after the situation has been assessed entirely. However, the original numbers forecasted 54,930 tonnes with 3.5% moisture and 58,900 tonnes in-shell with 10% moisture.
