Cashew Market Update April 2022 Week 15
In 2021, EU cashew imports grew marginally over the previous year, totalling 155,847 mt. By far the major supplier, Vietnam was able to transport more than 120,000 mt to the EU, more than ten times as much as India.
CΓ΄te d'Ivoire and Indonesia increased their sales to the EU by 134 percent and 110 percent, respectively. In contrast, India, Brazil, and the United Kingdom experienced significant losses.
In the first quarter of this year, for Vietnam, total exports were 105,000 mt worth 630 million USD, indicating that volume and value decreases of 6.7 percent and 5%, respectively, are not as severe.
According to the Vietnam Customs Office, Vietnam exported over 40,000 mt of cashew kernels worth USD 241 million in March 2022. Compared to the same month last year, this implies an 11% decline in volume and a 9% fall in value.
While exports of W320 cashews to the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, and France continue to grow, other vital countries such as the Netherlands, Italy, China, and Russia have cut their purchases of Vietnamese cashews, according to the Vietnam Cashew Association (Vinacas).
