Pecan Market Update February 2022 Week 8
The newest report from the American Pecan Council (APC) has shown a consistent, continuous increase in demand for American pecans, making it difficult for American producers to keep up with it. Since the trade war, US pecan exports to China have been at a stand still. However, the increase in demand brought about by boosted marketing has helped to increase domestic consumption.
This led to an increase in deliveries in the 2018/2019 season, at 154,000 MT (339 million lbs), a whopping 14.6% increase since the previous year. We continue to see these upward trends in recent years as well.
In 2019/2020 the exports were at 168,000 MT (370 million lbs) and the biggest increase came in 2020/21 when shipments increased by 26% at 211,000 MT (466 million lbs).
