Pecans Market Insights July 2022 Week 28

Macroeconomic indicators all point to a possible economic recession on the horizon, increased food prices, and soaring interest rates. All of these factors, and more, will definitely impact the pecan industry.

Yet, compared to other nuts, pecans aren't a typical tree nut and have historically remained inelastic. While high inflation and logistic challenges are concerning, the relatively small size of the crop and the specific market it has, a change in consumer habits will certainly allow more consistent consumption compared to other larger tree nuts.

Therefore, it is safe to say that the market will remain stable through the near future, with the likelihood of prices strengthening throughout the second half of 2022.
