Walnuts Market Update July 2022 Week 28
It is expected that the walnut crop for 2022 will have a larger output, over 2,000,000 tonnes. This is a nearly 20 to 40% increase. It is expected that 185, Xiner, 33 walnut varieties will increase by 20 to 30% while Xinfeng and Xingfu will increase by 40 to 50%
The output of Xinjiang walnuts will be around 1,000,000 to 1,200,000 tonnes. Yunnan, Shanxi and Hebei walnut output would be the same as last year.
If there continue to be no natural disasters such as hail and dust storms in July and August, the quality and yield are expected to be very good.
August is a particularly important month for walnuts as it is the time for the crop to grow. Early pickings can lead to lower yields and imperfect walnut kernels. As per previous experience, a shipment that's way too early will lead to an inferior quality of goods which will then affect sales. Opening prices will be clear in August.
