Prunes Market Update April 2022 Week 13

Chilean prune production is expected to reach 87,000 mt, with a total hectare approximated at 12.500 in 2022.  Asia will account for 40 to 45 thousand mt of exports, and dried prunes will be at around 14 thousand mt.

Chile has had relatively good weather conditions, which have been suitable for growing. As harvest approaches, the signs are that the conditions will continue to stay the same. It is noted that the bloom was successful for the crop, without any major damages caused by droughts.

Though, 3000 mt of sun-caused damages to be accounted for. There will be a drastic increase in production terms from last year, though, at the same time, carryover inventory will be at the lowest in recent history.
