Walnuts Market Update March 2022 Week 12
The market for Chilean walnuts has been very active. While the price for Chilean walnuts started higher than US walnuts, demand has continued to hold. It is reported that commitments have already reached near 20%. This is indicative that sales in April and May have already been covered.
India, China and the Middle East, especially Morocco and Turkey, have been active in purchasing in the Inshell Market. Europe has also been seen quite busy in buying. Reports state that buyers are demanding top-quality in-shell and kernels and are planning on securing volumes.
We have also noticed that prices have been moving up due to high activity in the market. There has been an increase in in-shell prices of 10 cents per kilo at each grade. For SERR, the price increase has been even more due to high demand from various places.
While the market for kernels starts later than in-shell, the sentiment of high demand from buyers is also prevalent there.
Also, in California, the availability of Chandler kernels is limited, and Halves are sought to be scarce.
