Moldavian Walnut Market Update November 2021
Unfortunately for buyers in Moldova and surrounding regions, the price of walnuts has increased once more. From the sellers' side, there has been a fall in sales to this increase. As buyers lose interest in this season's crops, there are many sellers in the region, from Hincesti to the Central Market, who hope that the price of walnut kernels will increase once more to make room for sales.
An Increase In Price Has Led Down Sales
They hope that there is an increase in price before the holidays to make a profit from what they bought the crops on. Apart from the Central Market, where the price per kilogram of walnut kernels reaches 250 lei, the cost may go down to 80 to 120 lei at certain collection points.
It has been reported that there are parts in the Central Market walnut kernels that may be brought for almost twice the price.
As sellers blame the pandemic for every issue with harvest this season, there is little to doubt that the limitation in supply may have to do with the early frost this spring.
