Pecans Market Update June 2022 Week 23
Generally, it is expected that the US pecan market will remain stable for a bit, with a likely possibility of an increase in price throughout the second half of 2022. As for halves and pieces varieties of pecans, those will continue to decrease at less than US$1.00 per lb. It is expected that these sizes will continue to be more dynamic in the future since halves have already reached their historically high prices.
Apart from this, we have information that the general economic situation, what with a slowdown and cost of living crisis, is causing concern as this is affecting pecan markets. While inflation and the current freight crisis are certainly something to be concerned about, pecans are not the kind of nuts typically affected by these things. The size of the crop and the way in which they are consumed have demonstrated a more consistent consumer behaviour, so there is no cause to be too alarmed with the current market.
