Sunflower Seeds Market Update June 2022 Week 23
We have learned that sunflower seed traders are quite concerned about the excessive heat and drought that has plagued Bulgaria. As you know, these weather conditions are not favorable for the market at all and can lead to a negative impact on productions.
As it is, suppliers are issuing only a few offers as well and something like this can definitely affect the entire crop season. Do note that even with war, Ukraine continues to supply sunflower seeds to the European Union. Exports to the EU continue from alternative routes.
The area covered during the planting season shows that there has been a higher number of seeds planted this season. However, excessive heat and drought could affect this negatively. Yet, it is important to note that even with these conditions, there are plenty of supplies of sunflower seeds.
Ukraine’s sunflower seeds sowing is presently 30% behind last year, but it isn’t complete yet so we cannot make predictions based on the current information alone.
Ukraine exported nearly 130,000 MT of seeds to the European Union in the last three months.
