Sesame Seeds Market Update June 2022 Week 23

While extreme heat seems to be sweeping most of the sesame seeds crop and impacting production, the opposite has been reported in India. In fact, suppliers go as far as to say that the heat is actually working well for Indian sesame seeds. Most report a good crop for the season, and have even commented on a higher quality of sesame seeds.

New crops continue to arrive in the market at a rate of 4,380 MT on a weekly basis. At 3,592 MT, the province of Gujarat is supplying most of the local market each week. Suppliers also report an increase in black and white sesame seeds. Yields have also increased in the West Bengal province of India. It is reporting, though, that much of the brown seed varieties are being pressed for oil rather than being hulled.

We will let you know as we receive new market news.
