Since January, the peanut export volume from Uzbekistan has exceeded 2020 by 63%, almost twice as much as 2019. Export numbers to China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus have increased several times, and several hundred tonnes have been delivered to the Netherlands.
From January 1 to December 15, 2021, Uzbekistan exported 21,200 tonnes of peanuts worth $22.5 million. About 92% of Uzbekistan’s peanut exports from early January to mid-December 2021 accounted for the total share of nine countries.
There were no exports to China until 2020, but in 2021 Uzbekistan increased exports of peanuts to China 5.5 times compared to 2020. The volume of peanuts exported to Belarus was 315 tonnes, which is 2.5 times more than in 2020 and 8.4 times more than in 2019.
In 2021, exports to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia and Ukraine increased by 2 to 3 times compared to 2020 and 2019. The growth in peanut exports to Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan in 2021 is more moderate: about 18% compared to 2020. The only place where there's been a decrease in peanut exports in 2021 is Afghanistan at 2.5 times less than in 2020 and 2.1 times less than in 2019.
This has been attributed to the change in political regime in the country. Similarly, due to economic reasons, exports to Pakistan has decreased by 10% compared to 2020
